My latest listing is an enchanting property that has a heritage home operating as a bed and breakfast, Hamlet Downs. I recently spoke with the owner Jenifa about her property and her time there. So you’re originally a drama teacher and from Sydney, I believe you are a fan of Shakespeare’s works? Yes, I was a drama teacher at a Performing Arts High School in Sydney. Teaching Shakespeare to gifted students was a passion.   What made you consider Tasmania?  I had long held a dream to live in the country and run a B&B... I would get on my iPad at night and search B&Bs for sale in Australia. It soon became apparent that Tassie was the place that had many to choose from and I had always wanted to return having holidayed here many years ago.   A nd when you saw the property was named Hamlet Downs did you see that as a sign? I did think the name was intriguing... but I knew once I walked through the land here at Hamlet Downs, I knew it was a special place.    Your move in date

Recharge your relationships - the lasting power of true friendship

Recharge your relationships - the lasting power of true friendship Happy New Year! There is nothing like a New Year to bring your life into perspective and celebrate and be grateful for what you have and where you are going! For some of us though that's where it begins and ends. I'm determined that this year will be different for many. My hope for you all is that this year and the years to come are filled with perspective, gratitude and celebration throughout the whole year. The new year holds great possibilities for each and every one of us. It's our responsibility to act and take hold of all that is gifted to us, to realise it's place in the world and give thanks and celebrate it. For me, 2020 signifies a year of reaching for the stars, more than ever before, stepping up and stepping out to enable others to do the same and I know that without the power of friendships and in particular the sisterhood that surrounds me, possibilities will stay exactly that-po

The Power of Womanhood

The Power of Womanhood “A woman is the full circle. Within her is the power to create, nurture and transform”   Diane Mariechild When I came across this quote it made me think about how this is reflected in my life. What have I created, who have I nurtured and where have I transformed? I first thought back to my childhood. It is sometimes seen as cliché to point to the women who raised you as your first inspiration — but for many of us, and certainly for me, I believe it is nevertheless true that our mothers and grandmothers are the first activators of our mission. My mother is a strong and resourceful woman, so were my grandmothers and for most of my conscious life I witnessed women making it on their own. You see I never knew my grandfathers, they had both passed away before I was born and although my Dad is an important part of my life, he and my mother separated when I was 3 and I spent all but one day a week living with my Mum, watching what one woman can accomplish. I

Empowered women, our strength of purpose can be used for good!

Empowered women, our strength of purpose can be used for good! You are nothing short of amazing! You are resourceful, creative and more capable than you give yourself credit for.   I don’t believe we hear this enough or tell each other this enough. Let’s change this! Did 2019 enable you to fulfil all your intentions? Are you looking back on a great year? For me this year has been full of rewarding milestones. It’s also been a year of incredible sadness. I’ve lost people dear to me, and people I know have experienced hardship and heartache. What about you? As I write this, many areas of Australia are in the midst of extreme catastrophe. 1000s of acres are burning, many of our farmers are drought-stricken, people we know and love are suffering from illness or a troubled living situation. I believe it’s now time, time to move beyond talking and time to take action and I want you to accompany me on an incredible journey in 2020! I’ve noticed a degree of frustration a

Matchmaker, Matchmaker find me a house

Finding your perfect match in property Maximising the relationship with your agent The real estate industry isn't entirely about property. In my view, its mostly about people, their feelings and achieving goals that bring about a lifestyle, a situation that offers contentment and belonging. When it comes to matters of the heart, many searching for love will seek the services of a dating site such as Tinder or E Harmony or a Matchmaker such as Hobart's own Follow Your Heart Introductions. Why should your search for the perfect property, another integral part of your life, be any different, it is after all a matter of the heart! I encourage property seekers to contact reputable agents to discuss their property needs. Find an agent who will actively search for and introduce you to the ideal property. Look smarter not harder

Be in front of the property market with some simple strategies. Its hot, hot hot here! Most Hobartian's, and it appears quite a few Australian's and those further a field, would be aware that the Hobart property market is crazy at the moment. There are quite simply not enough properties available for the number of buyers looking, properties are selling for amazing prices and the rental landscape means investment is popular. Time and time again people are missing out on a property they really want, leading to disappointment, frustration and even panic. There are ways to increase your chances of securing a property you love. The most important thing is to position yourself in the best situation you can, so that when the right property emerges, you can put forward a compelling submission to purchase. If you need the proceeds of a current property to purchase your next property you may need to sell before you buy. It's important to develop a strategy around this, ma

List your home now and revel into the New Year!

Why selling your home at Christmas time has advantages. It’s no secret that the Hobart property market is experiencing an all-time high right now! With the countdown to Christmas well and truly in full swing, many will succumb to the widespread apathy that can take over at this time of year. “Oh, it’s too close to Christmas now, I’ll leave it to the new year” is an all too common phrase. This Christmas is one where those who buck the trend will revel well into the new year celebrating the outcome of the sale of their home.  Here are 7 reasons why listing your Hobart home this Christmas makes sense!  1.       Supply and demand  The number of buyers searching for their new home outstrips the number of houses for sale. Time and time again people are missing out on properties. At this time of year, when there are less properties listed, in an already strained buyers’ market, the moment there is a sniff of a property coming on the market, there will be buyers lining up to view
